DCM 2018 – Los Angeles

By Kalani • July 9th, 2017

The Developmental Community Music course is back in LA for 2018.

We're excited to introduce the new World Rhythms program, a world drumming-based music program for all types of group, suitable for elementary school through adult. Click here to find out more about the World Rhythms program.

Dates:  July 9-13

Location: The Holy Spirit Retreat Center, Encino

This is a residential program and there are some off-site housing options as well. We expect to limit this course to 20 participants to keep the educational quality high and give everyone a chance to receive quality instruction and guidance. This course is geared towards music educators and those who present community music making opportunities for both typical and special needs populations. A basic musical skill set is recommended for all participants. No music reading or writing skills are required; however they may be found to be useful.

DCM is a holistic approach to designing and facilitating music-based group experiences. DCM combines the elements of music education, music therapy, and music facilitation into a unique approach that is currently used by hundreds of people all around the world. DCM emphasizes creative play and improvisation as essential elements that relate not only to music, but to quality of life.
