About the DVD

The companion DVD is a wonderful educational resource, placing you in the middle of the action, and providing a wealth of information and ideas. The four main topics are; musical activities, musical games (more structured than activities), a world percussion guide (with playing examples), and inspirational interviews (with participants and Kalani.)
The DVD contains over 80 minutes of high-quality content and comes with the book. (The book is also sold without the DVD, but we recommend the complete package.)

"Kalani's Together in Rhythm is a must-have curriculum for every music teacher, percussionist, and health professional who wishes to use drums and percussion as a vehicle for increasing communication skills and presenting rhythm-based events. The comprehensive text and DVD provide depth and understanding in an accessible format for both the professional and novice."
- James Campbell
Past President, Percussive Arts Society Director of Percussion Studies, University of Kentucky

"Group Drumming is one of the ways in which people are reclaiming their birthright to love, enjoy and play music. Kalani's work is exemplary in the field and this book and DVD will help aspiring facilitators keep their work focused on the pleasure of the participants. Music teachers will likewise find it valuable, with concrete activities that children will love and models of how to bring the students' ideas into the curriculum."
- Doug Goodkin
Author, Orff Schulwerk specialist, The San Francisco School Adjunct Professor, San Francisco Conservatory of Music

"Together In Rhythm is a complete package for anyone wanting to learn how to facilitate group drumming. Kalani's ability to articulate the process and depth of group music-making elevates the art of facilitation to a new professional standard that deserves attention from teachers, therapists and music facilitators."
- Barry Bernstein
Music Therapist, Healthy Sounds

"In the past decade we have seen the emergence of drumming for recreational, educational and therapeutic reasons. Together in Rhythm provides a comprehensive foundation for teachers who have wanted to begin such classes but did not feel they had the knowledge. It is more than a curriculum. It is an important resource for teachers that provides immediate application into the classroom. Kalani's Developmental Community Music approach is a natural progression from Orff Schulwerk."
- Konnie Saliba
Past President, American Orff-Schulwerk Association Professor of Music Education, University of Memphis.
